Misfits #1: not our world

No, you stand corrected. This isn’t our world. This is much more. This is our universe. You just don’t realise it. We outnumber you by at least ten to one - it’s just that we keep very quiet about that fact. We refuse to subscribe to your way of thinking, but we do so in near silence.

We are conspiratorial, but we’re not conspiring against you. We only talk in whispers and secret huddles because we don’t want anyone else to hear. Words are more effective when spoken in hushed tones.

The only thing you have correctly identified about us is that we don’t know where we’re going, which direction we’re headed in, what our role is in life. While it’s true that this sometimes leads to a view of the future that is all parched earth, flat as concrete, not even a single gnarled and leafless tree to momentarily offer a respite from the featureless horizon, oftentimes it’s also something else: an adventure.

Walking together, yet apart. Joined in solitude, with a burning desire to explore. We will win, but not on your blinkered terms.

Could be. Though I’m finding it a little too early in the morning to clearly think about existentialism. Maybe after three coffees.

Well I’m not sure which -ism, or -ive for that matter, this falls under but if it rings any bells then I’d say that… it’s … umm…

You know I DID have a point when I started typing…

Maybe 5 coffees is one (two?) too many?

I’m not sure which -ism this is either, but I’m thinking along the lines of Jarvis Cocker mumbling “the meek shall inherit the earth.”
