Frequently pretentious since 1971. Clearly ambiguous since 2000. Completely and utterly incomprehensible since 2006. Warning: may contain synonyms.

the lamb - Top hole. It's absolutely spiffing, quite frankly.

Mike - I really must change that strapline. In no way am I comparing myself with Kafka, except maybe with his limerick-writing brother, Bert.

Peach - I love a bit of pedantry, me. More please.

Norman Tebbit, yes. I was about to leave a comment saying that Reid was New Labour's Tebbit figure, but you beat me to it in the penultimate para.

Franz Kafka, yes, was wondering the same thing. I used to stare and blink uncomprehendingly at his words in my youth, when I still nurtured Literary Aspirations. Have to say that I prefer UW to FK though... FK was too obtuse for my tiny trivial brane.

That's a really bad Tommy Cooper impression he's doing in the second picture. No wonder Bliar hasn't offered him the happy post.

Oh, I absolutely agree with the comments about Cameron, yes. This isn't really a serious political post - I gave up doing those many moons ago when the whole political landscape became too laughable even to write about any longer, to my shame. It's merely something about Reid's manner, how he looks, the fact that I sometimes wake up screaming ...

There's something of the brute about Reid, granted. I bet he was the kind of child who pulled the wings off flies...

I don't disagree with you there, mr unreliable, but I have to say that the prospect of David Cameron becoming prime minister, as he inevitably will, keeps me awake far more than john reid coming round with his boys.

'Then there is the concerned voice of my social conscience, fretting about the future of the human race and whether the planet is doomed to disappear forever in a coughing cloud of our own carbon monoxide poisoning.' -- If possible, we could kill off all the stupid people (not with axes of words though, for they would generally find such impossible to comprehend...)

I feel rather more optimistic with that thought now. I did seriously have a lack of sleep last night though, so perhaps that impacts on today's thoughts. I doubt I would really care for the awfully stupid, and incapable-of-contributing-much anyway (other than pity), but I can say so, because I did not get much sleep!

Btw, do you read/ have read much Kafka?
