May cause drowsiness: day 6

Apologies if you’re reading this from outside the shores of the United Kingdom and consequently this unremarkable Thursday is much like any other unremarkable Thursday, but there won’t be any typical entry here tonight because the whole country is officially closed for a general election.

Furthermore, if the results bear out what the final round of opinion polls appear to suggest, then you won’t want to know the UK any more anyway. We’ll be busily pulling up the drawbridges all around the coast, proudly singing God Save The Queen and There’ll Always Be An England with a slightly trembling stiff upper lip, and throwing the last few remaining foreigners and immigrants with the temerity to still be here over the side to drown in the ocean.

It’s been lovely knowing you, World. Wish us luck. We’ll need it.

We are all with you. But I’m afraid we’re all with you on the wrong side. Nepal is a beautiful country, anyway, and flight tickets are cheap.

Is this because of that toe-may-toe / toe-mah-toe thing again?
