Stress. It’s the mod­ern curse. How­ever, you should never tell any­one you’re stressed, because that makes you an instant stress char­latan. If you’ve got time to tell someone how incred­ibly stressed you are — “Oh God, I’m so stressed! Stand there for five minutes whilst I tell you in tedi­ous detail how stressed I am!” — then you’re obvi­ously doing it for dra­matic effect. Like the boy who cried wolf, when your turn comes to be genu­inely stressed, no one will believe you — not even if you present them with a clump of your hair freshly torn from your scalp and wrapped tightly inside your clenched fist.
